TechSpot: nVidia's Freesync works as well as AMD on "non-certified" monitors, also includes LFC ability.
AMD does still hold the advantage due to Freesync over HDMI not being supported on nVidia cards, but it looks like nVidia's talking up "non-certified" monitors as being full of issues was, as expected, total BS.

Tested this on my monitor as well. No noticeable difference with variable refresh enabled on an NVidia or AMD GPU. The variable refresh is definitely working on NVidia. I enabled the refresh rate overlay from the monitor menu and it tracks with the fps displayed in the application. Even if the monitor isn't "Gsync-compatible" variable refresh can still be enabled, and works just as well as on an AMD GPU.
