Substance Suite and GPU accelerated baking
Substance 2020.1 introduced GPU supported baking for curvature maps which can bake 8 times faster on GPU. Currenty only Nvidia RTX is supported. Will AMD add support for faster GPU accelerated baking as well?

I guess you are talking about Ray Tracing as per Adobe Substance Painter Technical Requirements: Technical Requirements - Substance Painter
If a GPU card needs to have Ray Tracing for Baking then soon in the near future when AMD's Next-Gen Radeon RX Graphics Cards With Navi 2X comes out which will have hard wired Ray Tracing then most likely it will be included in Adobe's Substance Suite.

Adobe Substance does not even have a topic on their forums there. Must be a very recent procurement.

I recall some comments a few months ago. I am on autodesk and adobe forums among others mostly to follow new trends.
I have and old version of Photoshop which still is handy but I have a recent version of Corel Photo Paint which has a lot more helpful tricks up its sleeve.

It seems more and more 3D packages are using every compute API in sight

Not sure as most seem to use OpenCL which has been around much longer. This may change but I have not seen Radeon Rays in any developer forums I am on.

In my shop I use Blender and the Source engine which are easy on the system requirements and still can handle full 3D game worlds.
