Should I get a Ryzen 7 5700X3D?

My current computer is a Ryzen 5 5600g, an RTX 4060 and 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
My motherboard is currently AM4 and I do not want to upgrade that now.

My CPU upgrade options that I was looking at are:
Ryzen 7 5700X3D ($300 CAD)
Ryzen 7 5800X3D ($567 CAD)
Ryzen 7 5700X ($240 CAD)

For running Fortnite on Epic graphics (the best graphics), I know my GPU is being held back.

Are these three options good choices, especially price to performance? If so which one should I buy?

The reduced core count, lower L3 cache and PCIe 3.0 of the 5600G does inhibit performance slightly compared to those three Ryzen 7 8-core processors. If you play at lower graphics settings and/or resolutions like 1080p the performance of the CPU impacts FPS more than if playing at high graphics settings or 4K.

Before buying a new processor however consider what motherboard and cooler you have now. If you have a basic tier motherboard with low power components, or are using the boxed cooler that came with the 5600G, you're probably best to stick to the 65W TDP 5700X unless you plan to purchase other upgrades, as none of the three CPUs you list come with a cooler.

If you have a capable motherboard and high end cooler then either of the X3D chips will offer greater performance in gaming. The 5800X3D is currently on sale on the AMD Store.
