No Subwoofer in software/games - 5.1 audio - Windows 11

Hello.

I'm running an HDMI from my 6900XT to a Sony DH790 A/V Receiver for audio.

Although 5.1 audio tests ok in Windows 11 (every speaker plays, including subwoofer), my subwoofer does not operate in any games (New World, WoW, Lord of the Rings Online) or while playing Spotify.  However, if I changed Windows 11 to stereo audio, the sub plays just fine (I lose surround in games, of course).

I've been posting across multiple forums and still have not figured out the issue.  The above games have great surround, just no sub.

Thanks for any ideas

Make sure that when you set your speakers to 5.1 in Windows you set all your speakers to large.  Then set your crossovers to the subwoofer in the receiver.  That way, all the signal for each speaker is sent by the PC, and the receiver can decide which frequencies are shunted off to the sub.

If you have speakers set to large in the receiver as well, then you will get no base from games.  Games don't usually have a separate LFC  track that is sent to the sub no matter what the way movies do.
