I had purchased a Dell Inspiron 5459 long back. It still works so not buying a new one for the time being.

The issue I'm having is that the graphics card is not showing in the Device Manager even though it is attached to the motherboard.

I even found that it was even heating up indicating that it is actually connected.

Whenever I try to install a driver, it just gives an error (173 to be precise).

I even downloaded the driver both from Dell's official website and from the AMD website and both failed

You state that the graphics card is not detected. Making some assumptions...

1. You've disassembled the laptop and verified the discrete graphics card is installed
2. You're posting on an AMD forum, which suggests the discrete graphics is AMD based
3. Per the above Dell specs, the only AMD card it could be is the Radeon R5 M335

If all of the above is true, based on the screenshot of Windows Device Manager, it seems the card is not functioning, else it would be detected by Windows. Some things to check...

1. You are not using Windows 11 - per Dell Windows 11 is not supported on this laptop
2. You have downloaded and installed all Dell driver packages for your hardware
3. Device Manager indicates other devices flagged with missing drivers
