So i have been looking into Upgrading my CPU from Ryzen 3 1200 to an Ryzen 7 5700X3D or an Ryzen 5 5600X now the issue i am having is i am not quite sure if my motherboard is going to be compatible with these cpus. My motherboard is the Asus PRIME B350M-K and the latest Bios version available on it is AGESA version to ComboV2PI 1.2.0.A i would like for someone to confirm if the processors i mentioned are going to be compatible when i upgrade my Bios
The motherboard website lists supported processors & required bios version.
Any other compatibility queries should be asked on the asus rog forum.
According to your Motherboard's Prime B350M-K CPU LIST it shows that those two CPUs are supported: https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/prime%20b350m-k/helpdesk_cpu/
Ryzen 7 5700X3D (3.0GHz,105W,L3:96M,8C) | ALL | 6042 |
Ryzen 5 5600X (Vermeer) (3.7GHz,65W,L3:32M,6C) | ALL | 6042 GO |
Both new processor will need BIOS Version 6042 or newer to be installed for those CPUs to be recognized and for your PC to boot up.
Also check to see if your current System RAM would still be compatible with either of those two CPUs. If not you might be forced to purchase new RAM.
You will find out if your RAM is compatible if the PC boots up and you don't start having BSODs or crashes afterwards.
The ASUS Prime series of motherboards are very barebones and your B350M-K has only 4 + 2 power phases with no heatsink cooling on the VRMs. 105W TDP processors like the 5700X3D may not see full performance due to power limitations. A 65W TDP chip like the 5600X would be better suited.

Thanks everyone for helping out.
