Hello community, hope someone has some ideas about what else I could try.
I have just finished a new build and have a very strange issue. When I start the computer it boots up to the BIOS logo on the ASUS screen and tells me to hit DEL or F2 to enter the BIOS. However, the computer does not react to any keyboard input. The displayed image of the ASUS boot logo looks normal.
The hardware: Asus X570-P, Ryzen 5900X, Sapphire 6900XT, Adata XPG SPECTRIX D45G RGB 16GB 3600Mhz, 850W MSI PSU.
I have tried different keyboards on every single USB, onboard and front, same. Disconnected everything besides the GPU and RAM, same. Reset the CMOS, same. Finally, I thought attaching an old-school speaker to the motherboard may help narrow down the issue but that didn't help either. While starting the speaker beeps just once which usually is a sign that everything is normal.
Anyone got any ideas about what else to try?
My wife's computer USB and wireless keyboard doesn't work in BIOS until I use a Ps2 to USB adapter then BIOS recognizes the keyboard.
Looking at your Motherboard's specs it does have a Ps2 port on it: 1 x PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port(s)
When you built your computer did you connect the Computer case USB cable to the Motherboard?
If you keyboard now works with the Ps2 adapter go into BIOS and see what settings there are for USB for your motherboard.
If all the USB ports works when your are in the Windows Desktop and you might want to see if you need to upgrade your BIOS version to a newer version.
Note: What is strange is that my Wife's wireless mouse does work while in BIOS.
EDIT: Even though I have Legacy USB and Legacy Keyboard enabled in BIOS my USB or Wireless Keyboard is not recognized.
Unfortunately, this didn't help. Went and bought an adapter but that doesn't work at all. Not even the caps lock or num light goes on when I click the key.
Has the bios been updated for the 5900x ?
No, the motherboard is in the same condition as it was when i received it. I don't have a way to upgrade it.
Would it even load to the boot screen if that was the issue?
Hello,
There was a version of your UEFI, 3603, that specifically says fixed "USB connectivity issues". So if the version you are currently running is older, it may be worth flashing.
The motherboard is probably bad. What about warranty?
