Issue with 6800XT Triple Monitor Setup: Limited to my lowest refresh rate

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with my AMD 6800XT when using a triple monitor setup for Assetto Corsa at 5760x1080. The problem occurs when forcing the game to run at this resolution without combining the monitors (no Eyefinity). My setup consists of three monitors with different refresh rates: 165Hz, 75Hz, and 63Hz.

Here’s the issue:

  • The game is locked to 63Hz, matching the refresh rate of my slowest monitor.
  • This doesn’t happen if I use the "Only Driver" version of AMD’s software, but when I install the Full or Minimal versions of the Adrenalin drivers, the problem returns.
  • Interestingly, on my first boot after installing the driver, everything works fine, and the game runs unlocked at the proper refresh rates. However, after restarting the PC, the 63Hz limitation reappears.

Additional testing I’ve done:

  1. Driver and system checks:
    • I used DDU to clean install the drivers multiple times.
    • Tried older driver versions but encountered the same behavior.
  2. Port swapping:
    • I swapped the HDMI (with an adapter) and direct HDMI connections between monitors. This temporarily resolved the issue and removed the 63Hz limit, but after a system restart, the problem came back.
  3. Eyefinity:
    • Setting up Eyefinity fixes the issue, but I prefer not to use it because I need individual monitor controls and prefer independent configurations.
  4. Hardware:
    • This issue started after upgrading from an AMD 6700XT to the 6800XT. With the 6700XT, everything worked perfectly under the same conditions.

I’ve also checked:

  • V-Sync is off in both the game and Radeon Adrenalin.
  • Each monitor’s refresh rate is configured correctly in Windows and Adrenalin.
  • The problem only happens in Assetto Corsa since I don’t use triple monitors in other games to test further.

I suspect the issue is related to how the 6800XT or the Adrenalin drivers handle refresh rates in multi-monitor setups with mixed refresh rates. I would appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to resolve this issue permanently.
