So I saw the blog about HIPRT performance in Blender 3.6. I have a couple of questions.
Is the 27% increase in performance using the HIPRT 2.0 library, or an earlier one? Is this close to the best you are expecting from this library? If so, this is a HUGE disappointment.
Multiplying the 7900 XTX performance in blender benchmark by 1.27, I come up with a number about 5% faster than n a 4060 Ti in 3D rendering performance and 28% slower than a 4070. This indicates the 7900XTX is WAY overpriced for 3D creation.
So what this also shows, is a $900 street price card only competes in performance with a $400 8Gb card and loses handily to a $600 12 gb card. I was really hoping to see it compete with at least a 3080 Ti, but it falls far behind that card in performance.
Content creation has been an ever increasing part of GPU sales, but AMD cards are to pricey for the performance. They function fairly well in video editing rendering, with the exception of VFX, especially if 3D effects are being applied.
The result is a card that lags behind in price vs performance overall for content creation.
Is there any hope to get SIGNIFICANTLY better performance as the libraries mature?
