I just built a computer today and booted it up just fine, but for some reason my fps is capped at 60 in all the games ive tried. My drivers are up to date, my refresh rate is put to the highest setting and vsync is off. Its a 7900XTX so I know it has the power. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this.
If your FPS is capped at 60 in games despite having a powerful GPU like the 7900XTX, there are a few things you can check and try to resolve the issue:
Monitor Settings:
Ensure that your monitor is set to its maximum refresh rate. You can do this through your graphics card control panel or the display settings on your computer.
Double-check that the monitor cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) you are using supports a higher refresh rate.
Graphics Driver Settings:
Make sure that the graphics driver settings for your GPU are configured correctly.
Open the graphics control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Software) and check for any settings that might be limiting the frame rate.
Game Settings:
Check the in-game settings for each game you're playing. Some games have their own frame rate limits that you can adjust.
Disable any in-game VSync settings as they might cap the frame rate.
Windows Power Settings:
Ensure that your power plan in Windows is set to "High Performance" as some power-saving modes can limit the GPU's performance.
Third-Party Software:
Check if any third-party software is running in the background that might be limiting the frame rate. Some screen recording or overlay software can impact performance.
GPU Control Panel:
In your GPU control panel, check for any global settings that might be limiting the frame rate across all applications.
