We now have 3 generations of Ryzen processors and I believe we can all agree that they perform really well. As the title suggests, what is your favorite Ryzen processor during those 3 generations and why?
For me would be the Raven Ridge chips, particularly the 2200g. Eventhough the 1800x was my very first one which signaled a resurgence from AMD back onto the CPU front, the 2200G is a neat little chip. The integrated graphics is what makes this product unique. It's stronger than any other APU out there and having something powerful enough to play games condensed in an SOC is really appealing to me.
As the technology matures, this will only get better and who knows, APUs may replace mid-range gaming machines all together. Best of all, who better than AMD to deliver on that!
I only have experience of one Ryzen 2700X build, so I guess that is my favourite Ryzen Processor.
It does perform very well, however memory compatibility and stability was and is still a problem on the build.
It was very difficult to get the build to pass MemTest86 before even booting into Windows 10 64bit.
The build is still not satisfactorily passing Ram Test in Windows 10 64 bit.
I sent a modified Motherboard BIOS to Asus for their review and I hope a new BIOS will improve the situation but I have not checked yet.
I am waiting to see if Ryzen 3000 series are better in that regard before I consider building another.
I have not had time to read/reviews or investigate yet in depth.
The build is here: https://community.amd.com/message/2898301

i love my Ryzen 5 2600X - 4365MHz @1.488V
but overall i am waiting for Ryzen 5 3600G - with 6x 4.0GHz + 896 Shaders @1350MHz = 95W
My current Ryzen. Ryzen 5 2400G.
Just purchased an Ryzen 5 3600 for a new Gaming PC Build.
I will let you know what I think of it versus Ryzen 2700X.
Thanks.
I'd like to be able to say the 3900x, but having already waited weeks, there is still no sign of any stock in the UK, but worse still, no communication from AMD about this.
Funny you should say that. My order for Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard failed to turn up and was cancelled.
I managed to get a Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard. The initial build is completed and up and running.
I will be running MemTest86 today and hopefully I will not see any RAM issues.
I am impressed so far with the performance of the Ryzen 5 3600.
For me I used a 8350 for many years and now my yongest daughter is using that sence Ryzen 1 launched. I moved to a Ryzen 7 1800x This will get handed down to her. and now waiting for my new Ryzen 9 3900x... all 3 are my favorate!
2600 , very competitive cpu for it`s price. but now on r5 3600 and it is huge difference in performance with my 5700xt. but i am sad that new 3600 has problems with b450 mobo, crappy bios incapable of functioning properly on that board, so i switched to x570.
Hi,
Could I ask exactly which B450 motherboard you were using and what problems you faced with it?
I am testing my build now, Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard.
It has passed MemTest86 testing which is great news for me versus the experience I had with Ryzen 2700X and X470 ROG Crosshair Hero VII WIFI motherboard.
I am only running with two 8GB Corsair 3200MHz RAM sticks = 16GB this build - it is to be used primarily as a "gaming PC" initially.
The Ryzen 2700X is running 4x16GB Corsair 3200MHz RAM sticks.
I intend to swap the RAM sticks between the two builds and test at a later date but for now I am very happy the Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard and Corsair 3200MHz RAM are passing MemTest86 without much effort.
I will be testing the RAM stability in Windows 10 64 bit version 19.03 next using this: https://www.karhusoftware.com/ramtest/
Thanks.
msi b450m gaming plus
problems with coldboot , pc won`t turn on , everytime i saw cpu error led
if pc was turned off for longer time like minutes or longer , pc starts , but i was aware of restart because everyrime i restarted pc it ends with CPU error led. everytime. there was bios v17 , i sold this crappy board ,of course with a retailer warranty , board was 4 months old,and person who bought this board knows about incompatibility with new ryzens, because i don`t have time to doing beta tester .
with launch of new ryzens should be ready functional bios . and this msi board have only 16MB bios , where the entire AGESA code doesn't fit .
Thank you for replying.
I will watch out for that problem.
