Excellent move by AMD. Being able to swap it in to my X470 board and go, rather than have to eat the cost of a new board too, was big. I upgraded from the 2700X for Unreal Engine 4 architectural visualization, and it was worth the price--more threads and better single-threaded power. $750 is not cheap but the 3950X is worth that price for some users.
The Noctua DH-15s cools it with two fans attached.
Now, how about hardware raytracing on GPUs next, AMD?
