AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2: Official Resource Discussion

AMD_Radeon_Anti-Lag2_Counter-Strike2_logos.jpg

We are happy to share that our upgraded latency reduction technology is back as AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2. This updated version takes Anti-Lag to the next level and is now a game-integrated technology, rather than an in-driver solution. We’ve partnered closely with Valve to integrate Radeon Anti-Lag 2 into Counter-Strike 2, as a game update and technical preview AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver is available now to enable it for a more responsive esports experience and the ultimate in low-latency gaming.

Read our blog to learn more about Radeon Anti-Lag 2 and how you can join the preview today.

This preview driver is intended to provide users with an early first look into upcoming features within AMD Software; any issues encountered can be submitted through the AMD Bug Report Tool.

For general feedback, you can reply to this discussion, and myself, @Sam_AMD, or our Sr. Product/Software Marketing Specialist @alexander_blake-davies  will do our best to help you!

Friendly reminder: As some of you may know, Sam and I are not support engineers, but we know a thing or two about building PCs. Plus, we have access to our friends in our Hardware and Software teams (like Alex), so if needed, we will reach out to them to help us help you!

Lastly, we kindly ask you to be patient with us, depending on your question, getting you the answer (and possible solution) may take some time. We will monitor this discussion and do our best to reply to your question within ~72 hours.

Hi team. Can we have HDR recording and streaming option in the Adrenaline software? It still record and stream with dull colour.

So in order to use this technology does it absolutely have to be worked into the game? Is there any chance we will get Anti-Lag+ back?

Will there be Linux support?

Yes, the technology must be integrated into the game for it to work effectively. Anti-Lag+ may return, but it depends on developer support and integration into upcoming titles.

I've been using Anti-Lag 2 with Counter-Strike 2 since a day after it launched and overall it does improve the experience. When the number of players is in a stable state it is working well (e.g. 10 players in a comp), but in deathmatch the connection of a new player and the background tasks that I assume are GPU related (adding bots doesn't affect things, but human players with skins do) the change in performance can be rough. In my case if things are going well I get 350-400 frames at 1080p on a 360hz display with Anti-Lag 2 (backed by 7700x/6900 XT) but when a new player loads I can drop down to 150-200 or less for 20-30s. Without Anti-Lag 2 this wasn't a problem. I don't know the Anti-Lag 2 API and whether some deferred loading could be done to prevent this sort of bursty behaviour, but it would be great if that could be improved.

Performance also degrades significantly when you are over 12 human players in a large DM, but this is something Counter-Strike 2 was struggling with, but it is compounding bad.

I still hope that there are further improvements in this because when it is working it does feel quite good, but the amount of constant adjusting for FPS swings is still a bit too much right now.
