AMD CPU's Cardboard Packaging

I Love AMD, Hence why I just purchased a new Ryzen 7 5000 Series CPU. I'm extremely excited to use it in my new build, however, I'd be interested to know the communities view on this question.

Do you think the packaging for the AMD CPU's is unnecessary?

Of course, the box is beautiful however when opening the box, all that's inside is a plastic holder for the CPU, plus 2 pieces of paper. In addition is a large piece of cardboard holding the CPU in place. Of course if the CPU was housed in the middle of the box, the 'protective' packaging would be understandable, however the CPU is placed to one side of the box, with 7/8ths of the box being unused space.

What's your opinion? Do you think AMD should cut their packaging?

google "TRAY CPU" and then google "Boxed CPU" 😉

But the new Ryzen's (Atleast my 5800x) comes with a tray with the CPU in (obviously) but no cooler, so the packaging seems a little excessive for the contents you don't think?

you are right - the new 5800X is "boxed without Cooler"

yeah - those could come only in a small box
