Hello, I recently bought an msi rx 6650 xt and I dont know if getting not more than 240 fps on valorant with low settings is normal, I pair my GPU with an i7 8700k and as I know its not a bad CPU for the GPU, is normal having that fps? Thanks!
Hi,
I just checked a benchmark or two in valorant, you are being hit by a bottleneck, pretty normal stuff since you have an older CPU.
Just check this guy with 260fps'ish, low settings and a 3070 on a 8700K
That's why i thought at a start, what cpu would you recommend? I looked for a r5 5600x since it is at a good price rn but im not sure, also i saw that my actual CPU gives an 8-9% of bottleneck on valorant which it makes more sense now.
If you are happy with your system, I would save the money.
AM5 just arrived and will be hitting hard in the next years. 😃
But if you want to spend your money, then a 5600X will be a good pair with a B550 board.
The 5800X3D is also a good choice if building right now, it's a gaming beast. If you can though, might be worth waiting until the new 7000 Series X3D processors come out.
Now, the dilemma is whether to stick with AM4, or go with AM5 with higher DDR5 RAM costs, and I've heard B650/X670 mobos aren't cheap either. Admittedly, ideal course of action would be to go AM5 with newer feature sets, but a cheaper AM4 B550 (MSI B550 Tomahawk) paired with a 5800X3D and 2x 16GB of DDR4 3600C16 RAM would rock all games.
DDR4 3600C16 RAM modules are going at reasonable prices now, I just scored 2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 3600C16 at about 170CAD (~124USD). This pair of RAM would absolutely rock with my X570 mobo and R9 5900X. I'm building an R9 3900X rig (replaced by the R9 5900X) since, well. I have most of the parts needed for a new build. Just need to snag a CPU cooler, mobo and SATA SSDs, which I've already gotten from Amazon.
BTW, I'd think Valorant at 240fps would suffice for smooth gameplay, even at eSport level, or, am I missing something?
