Seven years ago, AMD set a new standard of excellence in the server market with the launch of the AMD EPYC platform. Thanks to benefits like exceptional performance and cutting-edge security features, the AMD EPYC brand has earned a reputation as the best server processor out there. Recently, we are announced availability of the newest addition to the AMD EPYC family - the AMD EPYC 4004 series.

The new AMD EPYC 4004 series are designed to specifically address the needs of small businesses and dedicated hosting providers with enterprise-grade features and performance they care about, at an accessible price. They feature AMD 4th Gen “Zen” cores, with up to 1.8X the performance per CPU $[i], up to 2X the cores, higher base and peak frequencies, faster memory, and 50% more maximum memory than comparable Intel® Xeon®-E processors[ii]. They are ideal for running essential business applications, web hosting, database, and general purpose workloads.

As a small business owner, investing in the AMD EPYC brand means you can rev up productivity, accelerate transactions and queries, and confidently run critical business applications. AMD Infinity Guard[iii] features enable hardware-based encryption to help protect your sensitive data. And with options up to 16 cores, you can optimize your Windows Server 2022 licenses with a solution that has headroom to support your growing business. AMD EPYC 4004 processors will allow dedicated hosting providers the ability to offer customers outstanding performance and security features, with the added benefit of leadership energy efficiency that can help lower ongoing power and cooling costs, and support sustainability initiatives.

The AMD EPYC 4004 series offers the most attractively priced solutions in the AMD EPYC processor lineup, perfect for small businesses looking for essential enterprise features. It rounds out an already robust product lineup, sitting alongside the 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors. The AMD EPYC 9004 series offers the ultimate in performance and scalability and is perfect for the most demanding workloads across enterprise, cloud, HPC, and technical computing. The AMD EPYC 8004 series, which is optimized around energy efficiency, is perfect for the Intelligent Edge and Telco markets. The 7003 series offers excellent performance and scalability for customers needing proven technologies. And the 4004 series completes the lineup offering class-leadership performance, performance per CPU $, and performance per watt for growing businesses and dedicated hosting providers.

The real benefit of the AMD EPYC 4004 series isn't just its affordable price - it's the enterprise features and performance you get at that price. The processors are available with anywhere from 4 to 16 cores, maximum frequencies of up to 5.70 GHz, memory capacity up to 192 GB of DDR5-5200, and include an AMD Secure Processor. These features deliver class-leadership performance and performance per CPU $ across a broad range of workloads. The AMD EPYC 4004 series outpaces competitive solutions on common workloads with up to 1.8X for general purpose[iv], 1.7X for video encoding[v], 1.6X for programmer/developer[vi], 1.9X for raytracing/rendering[vii] and 2.4X for cryptography/cryptocurrency[viii] the performance per CPU $. The AMD EPYC 4484PX and 4584PX feature AMD 3D V-Cache™ technology, with up to 128GB of L3 cache, enabling a significant performance boost for select workloads.

With up to 16 cores available, the AMD EPYC 4004 series not only gives you headroom for growth, but it also allows you to optimize your Microsoft Windows Server operating system licensing costs. The base license for Microsoft Windows Server for both the Data Center and the Standard Edition includes 16 cores. Intel Xeon-E CPUs only offer up to 8 cores.

AMD is thrilled to be offering the AMD EPYC 4004 platform with partners including Supermicro, Altos, ASRock Rack, Gigabyte, MSI and Tyan. Leading dedicated hosting providers OVHcloud and IONOS have announced solutions featuring the AMD EPYC 4004 series and we expect many more to follow in the coming months.

AMD is excited to announce the availability of AMD EPYC 4004 processor-based solutions. This new addition to the EPYC family rounds out an exciting line-up of 4th Gen AMD EPYC solutions and addresses the specific needs of small businesses and dedicated hosting providers.
