Which Linux mainline version do I need to use EPYC?

Base enablement for the EPYC platform is provided in Linux mainline kernel version 4.8. While this is the minimum requirement to use EPYC, we recommend using the latest kernel version to enable extended functionality.

I am on an unsupported version of an operating system or mainline kernel version, how can I enable EPYC support?

If your operating system is not on the support list, you will need to update your mainline kernel version to a supported kernel for support. We suggest you move to the most current version of your OS available for best functionality enablement.

I have not used Solaris for years, Oracle uses it for their own server appliances. I have searched around, found nobody using it.

world+dog all use Linux today which is the server favorite (don't ask Microsoft, I love to tease them about that cancer joke)

I use Linux on Azure for my wordpress sites as they opened without a database so I use MySQL as a pure database

More recently Azure has added MySQL to the server stacks for web apps

What linux mint version works ? and with the built in nvme drive ? or do I need to use a standard sata sdd ? or a regular hard drive ? It installs fine with mint 19.2,, but on reboot won't see the drive and boot from the nvme where it is installed. Dual 7601 on supermicro version 2.0 bios.

I suggest using the most recent version of any distribution of Linux. This way the latest kernel is available and the rest of the components are properly supported.
