When I install drivers on 5700XT I BSOD instantly and I cannot boot.

It gives me the error message, "VIDEO TDR FAILURE, atikmpag.sys.

I'm assuming it's a driver error because that's what my google searches say, and why would it by fine and then crash the instant I download drivers.

I've tried version 19.9.2.

What version should I use that should fix my issue.

I'm having same issues all the time. I just upgraded to 10.10.1 and when I'm watching FB or videos  on my chrome, even doing homework the computer BSOD all the time. I'm holding on to life to try to keep this 5700xt.  I also get this other error but will post it when I get it. I've had it where it was happening up to at least 5 or more times in an hour.

I followed amd's instructions regarding ram memory frequency, and apparently stabilized and GPU usage is normal and performance is good.

I haven't had BSODS in this day after this change.

We are sorry that you have encountered problems with your RX 5700XT. I will be happy to help.

What is the manufacturer of your board? Note that most problems that occur with this card have incorrect installation or configuration, or system incompatibility. For example, many users use the PCI (riser) extension cable, which in most cases is not currently used with PCI-e 4 and after removing the card works perfectly. Keep what you are connecting to the direct card on the motherboard without any extender cable.

Another problem that identifies is an incompatibility of the old 300 or 400 series motherboards or their configurations with this very new board. For example, many users reported troubleshooting or changing a PCI-e mode option in the Generation 3 Auto Motherboard BIOS. Suggest consulting the motherboard manual and testing this option and also contacting the motherboard manufacturer. to confirm if there is any additional configuration that should be done.

Also note that the maximum memory speed supported by the Ryzen 1700X processor is 2667MHz, so if using 3200Mhz memory, this is not processor compatible and may cause system instability. Using memory above 2667MHz is considered overclocking and not supported. Keep in mind that memory is set below the processor limit.

Also save if your RAM is included in the motherboard compatibility list (QVL). This list is usually found on any motherboard manual, mailbox, or website. Memories for a list that are not used and can cause various problems. Consult the motherboard manufacturer if in doubt.

And to ensure there are no problems with driver installation and your system is installed correctly, I recommend performing a clean install by following the steps below:

UPDATE SYSTEM
- Verify that the motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. Consult the motherboard manual or manufacturer if in doubt.
- Check if your Windows has the latest updates installed.

START A CLEAN INSTALLATION
Follow the instructions on this page to use the uninstaller AMD to remove previous drivers and ensure a correct installation:

INSTALL DRIVER MANUALLY

If it doesn't solve your problem, please send us the DxDiag report from your computer so we can investigate:

GET DXDIAG
Press the Windows key + R
Type "dxdiag" in the dialog box and press "Enter"
Click on "Save all information".
Save the file and send us attached.

Please also inform us the motherboard model as well as the BIOS version. Please also send us the RAM power supply model, including its part number.

I've done the steps above it did not help. I had the most recent windows updates, driver updates, MB bios. All fresh installs. 

What did WORK:

I saw in other parts of the Forum to install DDU. With this I place the computer in safe mode and uninstalled AMD Driver and Reinstalled AMD driver. Then rebooted. I did notice that when I was in DDU. There was a default Nvidia 1030 Driver that kept getting installed. So I went back to safe mode and uninstalled the 2! GTX 1030 Drivers that were on my system. After the restart, my system has been much much more stable. The reason I couldn't take it was because I was just testing games and Destiny 2 for the life of me didn't get over 30-40 fps. And I was looking at other cards it was going 70-90s with just a 1050ti and RX500 series. I was like whats going on? Did all recommended tweeks to the game and nothing. So I Saw the DDU download and that did it. Did what I showed above and boom, everything works like a charm. Getting 130-190FPS on my tweaked settings. Lil lower on full max everything. So I was happy it was working. My Monitor is a 1680 x 1050 so definitely need a monitor upgrade. I still get BSOD but not by reason of TDR Failure. I only got 1 yesterday.

Hello .. Good night!
About a month and a half ago I sold my GTX 1070 SC and bought a rx 5700 xt thicc ii, and since then my headache started. The card is very good yes, much better than my GTX 1070 SC, but at the same time it brings many problems, such as blue screen (BSODS), crashes and other annoying situations.

I have a 12 month warranty, and I am holding back from submitting for warranty and asking for my money back, as this is a hidden addiction or problem with drivers that cannot control 100% GPU.

Completely unstable, AMD does not speak and does not release a driver that solves the problem, each DRIVER a new problem.

Update the driver today after using DDU, and get a BSODS already.

I am very sad with AMD, we work day to day to buy a GPU here in Brazil and we go through these frustrating situations.

MY SETUP:

With my GTX 1070, you can normally use my 3200MHz RAM, already with RX5700XT, need to Disable or Ram Profile XMP, so it will be back to 2400Mhz, and you can use it with a limit of Frequency applicable to my Ryzen 7 1700x processor, ie I am leaving my Ram with 2666Mhz. With that, it's been 5 days that no longer get any KERNEL POWER or BSODS. Disabling the XMP profile in your motherboard BIOS as this may resolve the issue from time to time.

I have your same problem. Every time I start a game it freezes the PC after 2 min. I have tried a lot of things and now I have the 19.10.1 and when I have a bsod with this card the PC start in a reboot loop meanwhile the 19.9.2 freeze with buzz sound.. all these bsod are coming from the october windows update so I guess that ther's an incompatibility between the windows update and the amd latest drivers.. we have to wait for new amd drivers or maybe we can try to test the oldest amd driver

I thought I had some issues solved. I just fresh installed my computer. new AMD driver, new Adrenaline Driver. I got tired of system hangups the TDR Failures went away. But I couldn't get thru one game of fortnite. So Here just now, did all the new updates fresh everything. SC2 good to go. CS Source Good to go. Fortnite- Fails still everytime. Frustrating. I may boost my frequency back down to 3600 instead of boosted to 3733 i have it at. Just to see if this helps any for that game. I love the value, hate the dependency. THough it is getting better, but I shouldn't have to live with not being able to play some titles if I choose to. I like testing and tweaking and this just stinks.

I have the same issue as of this past week. No idea how to fix it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers. Any suggestions?

We have to wait until AMD fixes this issue, it's a driver issue.

Try using an older older driver, for example like 19.5.2

19.10.2 works on my RX 480 fine and BSOD problems disappeared after overvolting the RAM in my box

Using the latest AMD drivers for rx 5700 xt - 20.9.1 (which is supposed to fix tdr failures) and still having issues.  Clean uninstall of all drivers in safe mode, reinstall the latest driver and still the problem arises.  Never had the problem ever before.

Please download 20.10.1 optional driver from here. 

Run the installer, prior to installing the drivers, click the drop down arrow and select Factory Reset.
