I'm encountering an issue with my HDMI output on a system using a Ryzen 3 3200G processor.
When booting up or entering BIOS, the HDMI output works perfectly fine, but after Windows loads and the drivers are installed, it switches to VGA and HDMI no longer works.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Can you check your motherboard manufacturer's website to verify that the BIOS version that you have is compatible with the 3200G? AM4 went through some weird BIOS revisions where CPU series were added and deleted based on space constraints. You might need a different level of BIOS, though I would normally expect it to not work at all if the BIOS version wasn't compatible.
it's an A320 from Gigabyte
yes it supports 3200G
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: A320M-S2H
BIOS: FE (type: UEFI)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
It was working last saturday - been using it for years since 2021? Mostly for work. I turned it back on and HDMI stopped working. I can still use it writing this response but using a vga output.
I did update its firmware maybe around same year. I did it just once.
You should be installing Adrenalin version 24.9.1, not the latest version of Adrenalin. Try using DDU in safe mode to uninstall your current graphics driver and then install this version from the AMD website.
I tried using DDU multiple times (windows 10 & 11 same pc) going into safe mode, running DDU, and restarting. However, as soon as the driver installs, my monitor starts flickering and switches to VGA. Changing the input back to HDMI doesn’t help—it just says "No video signal."
Yes, Adrenalin version 24.9.1 - I used this.
It could be a failure in the video processor of your monitor for the HDMI input. Do you have another monitor you can try? Even if you can borrow one for just an hour, it would help to rule out a bad monitor. Also, I would be switching out the HDMI cable for another one.
And here's a question - how can the monitor switch to VGA if you are connected to the HDMI? You don't have both inputs connected at the same time, do you?
Unfortunately I work from home and our office is kinda far from my place but I will try that to isolate the issue.
"You don't have both inputs connected at the same time, do you?"
For troubleshooting purposes I do connect both inputs and unplug vga as soon as I get the hdmi working.
**I can still set 81Hz on vga but resolution is 1280x1024.
Could this be a bad HDMI cable, or is my monitor acting up because I overclocked it to 81Hz?(it worked for a long time until now and i'm stuck on VGA)
Running your display out of spec can cause issues. Have you tried reverting it to factory settings?
Have you tried reverting it to factory settings? Yes, I use CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) in Windows to overclock my monitor. I didn't have to change anything on the monitor itself.
I DDU'd it again. Here's the video, no cuts.
I see it switching from HDMI to VGA and that must be frustrating for you.
(1) When you go into the BIOS, is the output set to HDMI from your previous selection, or do you have to select and save it again? If this setting is changing, it could be a problem with an old CMOS battery that needs replacing.
(2) If you don't have a VGA connection installed (running HDMI only), does your display just go blank after the Adrenalin drivers are installed?
(3) If you use DDU and reboot but do not install the Adrenalin drivers, does your display remain in the HDMI configuration?
I tried using an HDMI cable that came with them android boxes those cheap ones? It worked but it's too short. So HDMI cable is the main culprit.

I have the same problem. After during installing AMD GRAPHICS DRIVERS I have black screen in Win 10/11. If I restore Microsoft Basic Display Adapter the system works fine, but I can't play games. I have old monitor and cable HDMI -> DVI.
MB: MSI B-650-S PRO WIFI (with latest BIOS)
CPU/IGP: Ryzen 7 9700X
MEM: DDR5 G.SKILL Z5 kit 32Gb (XMP 6000Mhz)
Please help to solve this problem.
