Homebase, after the LAN is before the LAN

Since I just reinstalled everything after our latest LAN-Party with people from all over Germany, I decided to take some pictures with my mediocre phone cam. I did not clean up, and I did not move things out of the way to make it look prettier, it is what it is except one thing. The cable management behind the PC is not in place, I rescheduled that from day to day. 😄

My system is called Homebase in every iteration since I can remember. I can not tell why, but this is the way. The tiny test bench beside it is called Outpost, always. I do test a lot of private stuff there and tinker with misbehaving PCs from friends and family. Did that more or less professional before, but got tired of the customer base......

The specs are as followed:

  • Ryzen 5 5600
  • Gigabyte X570S UD
  • 2 x 16 GB Kingston HyperX 3600 C17 dual rank
  • AMD Radeon RX 6800 16 GB MBA
  • WD Red SN700 512 GB NVME - OS
  • Crucial P5 Plus 2TB NVME - Games
  • Sandisk Ultra 3d 2 TB SATA - Stuff
  • Toshiba MG08ACA14TE 14 TB HDD - Storage
  • Corsair RM Series 2019 RM850 850W
  • Scythe Mugen 5 Black ARGB
  • Fractal Design Torrent Compact White
  • Philips 275E 27" 75Hz IPS Monitor
  • Creative T100 Speakers
  • Sharkoon Drakonia Black mouse
  • Lenovo Legion Keyboard
  • GN and AMD Radeon mousepads
  • QNAP TS-230 for data backups and media delivery inside the house

All off this is connected via Fiber 500MBit to the outside world after years with LTE. The lighting is done by an adjustable lamp behind the monitor and some RGB stuff behind me in the room. The room is only for my entertainment and filled with tech stuff in the cabinets and books, a lot of books!

Upgrade plans:

I would like to switch to an 5800X3D or AM5, but at first a 32"-34" monitor with picture by/in picture. Everything is else fine for me right now, even if I like new stuff to play with like 7900GRE or so, but that's not in budget right now.

I hope you like it somewhat and the pics aren't too crappy.

That's a decent build.  Did you upgrade the monitor yet?

Not yet, but I am aiming for around 32-34" UWQHD/4k with PiP or PbP included. Also, I would love to slap a X3D in it, but right now that's no option.

I bet you would.  I have both an 5600X3D and an 7800X3D CPU in two computers on my LAN.  I do believe the X3D versions perform better in gaming.

They do perform way better, but it is not in the budget short or midterm and I will not ask AMD 🙂
