Today we are releasing a major upgrade to our advanced software suite for Radeon Pro graphics, Radeon™ Pro Software Adrenalin Edition, named after the vibrant Adrenalin Rose, continuing AMD’s commitment to releasing major driver updates annually.
Radeon Pro Software Adrenalin Edition introduces both new features like the all-new Radeon™ Pro Overlay and adds some significant improvements to features released in Radeon™ Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition, such as updates to Radeon™ Pro ReLive and “Driver Options.”
In addition, when compared to last year’s Radeon Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.1 release, Radeon Pro Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 provides better performance in leading professional applications.
Also, along with this major release, we are announcing a revised 2018 quarterly release schedule for our Radeon™ Pro Software Enterprise Driver.

When tested with the Radeon™ Pro WX 5100, Radeon Pro Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 is up to 16% faster in SPECviewperf® 12.1 energy-011 and SPECviewperf® 12.1 maya-042 when compared to Radeon Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.1.
More impressively, Radeon Pro Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 is up to 2.5 times faster in SPECviewperf® 12.1 snx-02 than Radeon Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.13.
Radeon Pro Overlay: Seamless In-Application UI
Radeon™ Pro Overlay is the new seamless in-application user interface for one-click access to Radeon™ Pro ReLive, AMD’s professional-grade solution for high-resolution screen capture and recording.
Radeon™ Pro Overlay’s intuitive interface gives you full control over recording, instant replay, screenshot capture, and region recording (a new Radeon Pro ReLive feature). You can also toggle the microphone and webcam on or off and configure the webcam overlay’s position.
Radeon Pro ReLive
With Radeon Pro Software Adrenalin Edition, the updates to Radeon Pro ReLive are substantial enough that it could have been called version 2.0 of this feature. Radeon Pro ReLive now features borderless region capture for windowed mode recording of professional applications and can now record across multiple monitors.
We’ve added chroma key support so you can use a green, blue, or magenta screen (or a configurable custom color) to remove the background of your webcam overlay when recording. Additionally, you can now capture the microphone audio as a separate track giving you more flexibility when editing your videos.
Updated “Driver Options”
Radeon Pro Software’s “Driver Options” feature4 has been updated in Radeon Software Pro Adrenalin Edition, giving users with supported graphics cards the ability to swap from Radeon Pro Software to the latest Radeon™ Software Adrenalin Edition for Radeon™ Pro driver (a special version of our Radeon Software driver optimized for this feature downloadable from within Radeon™ Pro Settings) and use its gaming features (Radeon™ WattMan is not available on Radeon™ Pro products).
When using the Adrenalin Edition gaming driver in gaming mode, professional users can take advantage of its groundbreaking new features, including the new Radeon Overlay seamless in-game UI and the AMD Link mobile app.
Available for your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet, the AMD Link mobile app complements Radeon Software on the desktop with the AMD Link dashboard featuring streaming and replays with Radeon™ ReLive and performance monitoring.
2018 Enterprise Driver Schedule
We are also announcing our 2018 schedule for the Radeon Pro Software Enterprise Driver, delivering enterprise productivity, certifications, and security updates every quarter on a predictable schedule. Next year the Enterprise Driver will be released on the 2nd Wednesday of the 2nd month of each quarter, with the first release set for February 14th, 2018.
As of December 1st, 2017, our current Radeon™ Pro Software Enterprise Driver 17.Q4 has over 40 professional application certifications and our commitment to stability means that we are the toughest user of our drivers, and our extensive testing helps ensure that every Radeon™ Pro Software Enterprise Driver has rock-solid reliability.
