Ryzen 5 5600x high temps without any apps running

Hi! So I have had some temperature issues with my new pc build. When I usually turn on my pc my cpu temp is around 31-36 degrees in ryzen master. The temps while gaming are around 55 degrees but as soon as I stop playing and close everything ( literally every app running in the background) the cpu temp still stays around 49-54 degrees at idle I dont understand why. The cpu core clocks are also high as compared to when I booted the PC. Isn't it supposed to go back to normal 35-40 degrees idle temp? Also the cpu speed is normal when boot the pc (3.8- 4.1 Ghz at idle) , but then after I stop playing the speed of my cpu in task manager is still as high as 4.5 -4.6 ghz when my computer is doing literally nothing. As of now my cpu is at 54 degrees without anything running. Though when i restart my pc it goes back to normal temps i.e 35 degrees. I know 55 degrees isnt going to damage my cpu but having that temp at idle is kinda concerning tbh :(( Also cooling isnt the issue here coz I have checked everything thrice. Thanks in advance!!

So my system specs are-

Ryzen 5 5600x

Deepcool AIO 240mm

XPG Spectrix 3600mhz 16gb (8x2)

Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite Wifi Mobo (F33g bios version)

Aorus RTX 3060ti Master 8gb gpu

Lian Li Lancool 2 mesh (8 fans including aio fans)

Any usage % showing in task manager, track down the processes.

So is it ok for my CPU to run at 50 degrees for long sessions when no apps are running?

Mine runs idle 26-30 (hwinfo64), i wouldn't be happy at 50 idle.

What app. is reporting that temp.

Ryzen master….

So now I have closed every app…. In ryzen master my temp is 50.27 degrees, peak speed is 4633 Mhz PPT is 78% and CPU power is 27.4 Watt

Soc power is 17.9-18.3 Watt

RM uses cpu resources running all the graphs and dials, so that may be why.

Close it, or i think changing to basic mode reduces usage.

Then use hwinfo64 to see if any difference.

Remember there are many processes running on windows even when your not gaming. But 50c to 70c on CPU is no problem, but check that you don't have PBO in Bios switched on as it will always try to reach high CPU speed if it sees low temps.

Also, note that the temps may not go down quickly due to ambient temps

My 3600 runs at 55c on light load all year round and has no issues

Your PC is ok mate. Enjoy it and have fun.

Your CPU is fine, only thing you can do is repaste it to try and lower temps but honestly my 5600X does around 55C with 7-8 Chrome tabs just watching Twitch and running Discord.

Running on air - Arctic Freezer 34 Duo and Arctic Silver 5 paste. Although I will be repasting soon with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or Arctic MX4. You can get the latter here - https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-MX-4-2019-Performance-Durability/dp/B07L9BDY3T

I actually found what was the problem!

After the recent nvidia update, a program called Nvrla.exe would run on your pc in the background using around 10-12% of cpu. This was the reason y my temps at idle were around 50 degrees. Now that I have deleted it my temps have gone back to normal (33-35 degrees)

Thanks to everyone who helped and replied

Weird, never have seen that problem before. Did you find out what the process does?

Although, I don't use the newer driver or GeForce Experience because they both suck lol

465.89 is the last good driver, and everyone should use DDU before installing it to get rid of old drivers.

When I googled it I found that it had to do something with the in-game overlay (alt+z).

But even when I stopped the process from running the overlay seemed to work just fine lol xD
