Hi,
I have the following CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X (100-100000023BOX) and the following motherboard:
ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming Motherboard.
Currently I have non-qvl ram in there and I want to change over to get 128GB of ram. Then at a later stage change the CPU to a AMD Ryzen 9 5950X.
I am wondering how crtical is QVL ram to get.
I have noticed that on vendor web sites like GSkill and Coirsair they list ram that is not on the ASUS QVL - that thay say is compatible.
Also I don't plan on overclocking my computer and keeping the BIOS ram settings on defaults (unless I need to change them).
So here are my questions:
1. Will I have any issues if I buy vendor RAM that they say will work with the motherboard (but ASUS does not) will I be OK?
2. If I decide to skip and just go for DDR4 ram will I have problems?
3. Will changing CPUs make any difference?
4. On the Asus web site why would there be different QVL depending on AMD CPUs - do they handle RAM differently?
Thanks,
Ward.
