Certain games cause consistent black screen issues

My graphics card is a Radeon RX Vega 56, and my processor is a Ryzen 7 3700X. I list both because I don't know whether this is a graphics problem or a processor problem, but I had to pick one subforum or the other. The issue I'm about to describe is something that has happened before on more than one occasion, but not on any replicable basis. But more recently, the same issue has been coming up more often, and more consistently in the specific games where it's happening.

The issue is this: under specific conditions which vary in the games in which this has happened, I trigger some kind of error. Whatever the error is, it causes my monitor to immediately go black with a "no signal" message. At the same time I hear the fans in my computer suddenly kick on to maximum speed. When this happens I lose any ability to interact with my computer, though I can still hear any audio that was playing at the time, until I force my PC to shut off.

As mentioned before, there are three games recently which have been able to cause this crash consistently. The first is the recently-released Scorn, for which this crash happens before I even get to the title screen. The second was in a recent closed beta for a game called the First Descendant, in which opening the options menu caused this crash. And most recently, I was playing Resident Evil 8. I've only just started the game, and it was running fine until I reached a spot where it told me I could shoot a bag of flour to create cover for myself. I shot the flour, and my computer immediately crashed as described above.

The nearest I've been able to narrow this problem down is by talking to some people I know online, who say they experience something similar as a result of a thread error. I'm also not entirely sure what that means. But if anyone could help me stop these crashes from happening, I would really appreciate it.
