Can't connect a second

I have a problem with when I connect my 2nd monitor to my pc both screens go black. My main monitor (connected through DP) works perfectly fine until I plug in the 2nd monitor (connected through HDMI) then both screens go black and I get no display through either monitor. I'm forced to shutdown the pc and disconnect the HDMI cable to then get a signal back to my main monitor.

I think it could be a problem with my gpu, but I really have no clue.

I'm running a R5 2600, and RX570, Aorus B450 Elite.

What was your solution?

Update all drivers and bios

then select your pcie in the bios , don’t leave it on auto .
i have a x570 , 5900x and 6800xt so changed all Pcie to Gen 4. If you only have gen 3 then set it to that. For some reason leaving it on auto for the gpu is an issue.

hope this helps

I've tried and no luck, but I wasn't sure what you mean about the PCIE in the bios, I couldn't find anything.

I have an asus crosshair x570 and for me it’s

bios menu

 advanced tab

onboard devices

scroll down to Pcie x16 mode

set it to Gen4 (or anything other than auto)

For MSi I think off the top of my head

In the bios menu.

Select the “Advanced” tab using the left/right arrow keys.

Select the “Video Configuration” option using the "Up/Down" arrow keys. ...

Select the “Pcie  Graphics" option and press “Enter.”
