So as stated in the subject I am having some problems with a new 6700xt that I bought like 1 or 2 months ago. I didn't perform any type of overclocking on my graphics card. The one that I have is a ASUS Dual Radeon 6700XT.
To get it started, I've seen that sometimes after I open up my PC after a few minutes, doesn't metter if I am watching youtube or I am in a game.. After a while the whole PC freezez and I have to wait for it to get back to normal ( also in that moment the first monitor is going black ) and then I have the error "Default Radeon WattMan settings has been restored due to unexpected system failure"
Thats 1 of the problems.
The second problem is when I am playing an actual game and sometimes its random and sometimes is when I am alt tabbing. Same situation, the PC is going to freeze for a minute or so.. After that everything goes back to normal and sometimes I experience a message that says " GPU driver "......." due to an unexpected failure " but also everything goes back to normal.
I reinstalled the windows, I installed the latest amd graphics driver, I tried pretty much everything that I could think of.
But its a bad situation to buy a new graphics card and have everything working fine and just having that error from time to time. Also, the error happends just once, even if I am playing a game for 10 hours, after the first error, it dissapears and everything goes normal
My full specs are :
GPU: Asus 6700XT Dual
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3d
RAM: 16GB HyperX 16CL dual channel
PSU: Corsair 750w 80+ gold
Motherboard: Tomahawk MAX 450
Thank you everyone who wasted time to read this post, hope I'm gonna fix it soon. Have a great day!
try doing a rollback to 22.5.1 driver, many people have stability problems with the latest driver versions after the 22.5.1
deleted
huh?
Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed for your motherboard
Make sure you have the latest AM4 Chipset drivers installed from AMD.com
What speed is your RAM actually running at? (Task Manager>Performance>Memory) How many sticks? (2 or 4?)
Make sure you are running separate power cables from your power supply to each power input on your GPU
Make sure your Windows install is up to date
How are your CPU/GPU temps? .. case airflow?
Windows 11 reinstalled and updated to the last one.
I am using a Zalman Z1 Neo as a case ( which is pretty old but I don't think that should be a problem )
For the CPU I am using a Dark Rock 4 ( non-pro, because the pro one would not fit in the case )
Ram is running at 3200 (the max speed set from the bios)
And I've also used the latest bio update from the MSI page.
I think the temps are pretty normal since the CPU is staying at around 91C maximum while doing stress test. Otherwise it never gets that hot.
And GPU is 59-65 depending on the games that I use. I only play New World, Valorant, CSGO.. So it shouldn't be a problem.
The last stable driver for me which is the one I'm also currently using is 22.10.3, I have a RX 6750 XT but only one monitor.
Make sure you do the following in order to stop the blackscreens:
1. Disable Hardware Acceleration on everything (Web browser, Discord, Zoom, etc)
2. Turn off Radeon Image Sharpening in the AMD Software
3. Turn off Radeon Enhanced Sync in the AMD Software
Not sure about the whole system freezing.
I found something on Google about turning off the fast boot from the power options, they said that this may skip some steps in the drivers starting for windows and this is why I get that error only once and after that it doesn't appear for 8-14 hours of gaming or watching content.
So far it seems stable, its been only 2 days so I can't tell for sure. I will come back to this topic and try your suggestions if the error seems to persist. Thank you so much!
