I see there is a new driver for my MF box.

17.40.2815.1009-180214a-325217c-aes.zip

What I do not find is any sort of release notes hiding nearby or even inside this 540MB file.

How am I supposed to decide whether I should use this, or stick with

17.30.1075-170830a-317566c-aes.zip

Without release notes?

What changed? Will it make my R-series less of a baconator? Will it turn it into a fearsome game machine

(Why the drivers include game adverts for *embedded* hardware is another story.)

Go to: Drivers & Support

Manually Select Your Driver

Step 1 Select "Embedded Graphics"

Step 2 Select "Radeon Embedded" (only choice here)

Step 3 Select "R-Series 3rd Gen formely codenamed Merlin Falcon

Step 4 Select "Windows 10 - 64 Bit"

Step 5 let's go!

Stare in awe at the complete lack of release notes.

It is also worth pointing out that 17.30.1075 etc has disappeared from the "Previous Embedded GPU and APU drivers"

If your referring to graphics drivers, here is the normal way to select the correct one and the "Read Me" notes are on the driver download page. Whats important here ( INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION  ) is your processor/APU  and whether this is a laptop or desktop.

Manually select your driver:

You need to find out the specific APU or processor you have Download Drivers

Then fill these 5 steps out using that information:

Bunnie Do you see where I chose "EMBEDDED" in the above post/screenshot? I could not finish because I don't know What/Which embedded graphics you have. Do the same and fill in the information that you will not share with us.

If you can give a model number of your computer maybe someone can help. There are tons of different "embedded" graphics.....which one do you have?

I'm sure there are readme's and release notes for the latest and greatest game obsessed bitcoin miners, but you only have 1 card to screw up.

I'm likely to have thousands, hence I need release notes.

You check the release notes on the driver download page for your specific graphics solution.

This driver is *garbage* and crashes more often than not with KMODE BSODs.

Do not use it.

Hi, Bunnie, you have a legitimate complaint about there being no Release Notes for Embedded Graphics. It is unwise to download and install drivers without knowing what is "Fixed" and what the "Known Issues" are especially if it involves several computers.

So, I opened a Email Ticket with AMD Support to find out why there are no Release Notes in Embedded Graphics. I posted the Driver download page link, the same one you posted, and  a link to this Thread.

IF AMD Support should happen to reply back, I will post it here for other Users in the future.

Received a reply from AMD Support. Here is their answer for not having notes on Embedded Driver's page:

The OP from the thread you linked opened a e-ticket with us directly and we have put him in contact with an AMD Embedded specialist who will be able to provide direct support and release note information.

AMD product support for Embedded products is only available through an AMD Embedded specialist, therefore we do not publish the release note information on amd.com.

Yes, it's a great excuse. Strange that Intel has release notes for their stuff.

I bet they want an NDA next.

So saying, we just didn't buy 15000 AMD things because ~~~

Some more results.

1 - I love random BSODs. I managed to get 2 in a row.

2 - It seems that the ntoskrnl.exe!SeAccessCheckEx might be something else that didn't trip up before but now does.

3 - I still get a WHQL warning.

Anyway, still testing but now I know to remove *EVERYTHING* from the unattended install...
