AMD Audio Drivers not detecting Acer XF273 M3 Monitor as an Audio Output

Hi

I recently updated the BIOS in my MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard after the news of a vulnerability in Radeon CPUs came out this year at Defcon. I updated my BIOS as recommended on MSI's website, but now my desktop refuses to recognize my monitor's speakers as audio outputs. It's not even showing them as unplugged; they're just not there. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AMD audio drivers, the monitor drivers, doing a restorehealth command and stability scan, switching the monitor to DisplayPort instead of HDMI. I'm kind of at my wits end and would appreciate any further advice.

1 Solution

I seemed to have found a solution? Someone recommended me DDU (Display Drive Uninstaller) by Wagnardsoft. I used it to uninstall my Realtek audio drivers, not really expecting much, and somehow that fixed it???? I'll list what I did step-by-step:

1. Install DDU

2. Disconnect Internet

3. In the DDU main menu there should be a dropdown with the options Audio and Graphics. Select Audio

4. In the next dropdown hit Realtek (or the other one if that's what your computer uses)

5. Hit uninstall and restart

6. It's recommended to do steps 3-5 again just to make sure everything's uninstalled

7. Turn Internet back on

8. I also uninstalled both AMD Audio Drivers in device manager but I don't think that's necessary because

9. A pop up from Windows saying "Realtek Audio Control" got installed popped up

And then it was fixed. So maybe you're missing this random program that nobody nowhere tells you to install

I have an almost identical problem. Upgraded PC from B550 to B650 along with CPU/RAM and after doing everything you listed I still cannot get either monitor to be recognized as an audio output device. The only thing that lets me play audio is my Corsair wireless headphones with a USB dongle. Also at my wits end...
