Ubuntu 20.04.2 has artifacts after amd-gpu-pro 20.50 install

Hi, I've installed last amd-gpu-pro 20.50 on ubuntu 20.04.2. After reboot I have artifacts and its impossible to work.

I experience the same problem with a 

  Radeon RX 570 4GB

 

Upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS and AMDGPU-PRO 21.30 doesn't help either:

Artifacts until full system crash/freeze without image output

 

Weird thing is that this system was running fine before.

 

Have you found any remedies so far?

What about uninstalling the amdgpu-pro and using amdgpu (open source drivers) instead?

I have done a lot of things to get rid of the artifacts and i can not pinpoint to the exact cause, so I would suggest anyone with a similar problem to go through the following points from top to bottom:

  1. Change Undervolt of Memory back to default (mine was at 875 mV with default being 900 mV for Stage 2 @ 1750MHz (It is weird because the card was running with this setting, or actually 875 mV@ 2150 MHz fine for almost half a year 24/7 – however if i try to go below 900mV I will instantly get artifacts – with 910 I can get it to 2100 MHz now..)
  2. downgrade my ubuntu kernel from 5.11 to 5.4 with a reinstall of amdgpu-pro 20.50 (ONLY OpenCL; NO DRIVERS to keep amdgpu FOSS as suggested by @Psyhix69 )
  3. swapped PCIe bank from #1 to #2 (physically mounted the GPU in another slot)
  4. removed 2nd GPU to see if there's an issue with the PSU (500W – there was not; both are running fine now)

I spent the most part of a sunday on this; Hopefully this saves you from 10 hours of troubleshooting
