Whats a good ups that AMD recommends

Hey

I have a AMD 5900X and a 6900XT system, with a 1200W power supply, and I am looking for a good ups ( Uninterruptible Power Supplies ) unit. Any recommendations?

That AMD recommends? I doubt they recommend anything tbh

Here's what I use:

Have the same system as you, though my PSU is 850w, not 1200w but it should be fine.

If you plan on updating your rig again for top end next gen hardware, you're going to need a monstrosity of a UPS. Server or Industrial grade.

Here's why:

Just keep in mind that the VA is what you can draw from it total: (Your 1200w PSU, your monitor, etc)

the W is the batter size. (How long it'll last when it switches to battery) (This should be measured in AH, but for whatever reason they never list it on consumer products which is infuriating, because technically VA = W so how they list it is plain stupid)

ALSO keep in mind that industrial grade equipment requires industrial grade breakers, wiring, and outlets.

They have this funky plug for a reason. Easy way to burn a house down.

Correction:

Something about this has been bothering me:

  • "Just keep in mind that the VA is what you can draw from it total: (Your 1200w PSU, your monitor, etc)"

I even made the comment that something about it was off:

  • "the W is the batter size. (How long it'll last when it switches to battery) (This should be measured in AH, but for whatever reason they never list it on consumer products which is infuriating, because technically VA = W so how they list it is plain stupid)"

While messing around with HWiNFO64, and saw my UPS was listed in the hardware

So according to this, if the UPS load is @ 25%, drawing 250w that means that the max draw of this unit is 1,000w.

That means that I had the battery and draw info backwards. 1500VA is the battery, 1000w is the max draw.

The lack of clarity in the way they list these things, especially for new/first time purchasers is pretty bad. They need to clearly list the specifications in as laymen friendly terms as possible.

(mAh for battery, like most modern hardware does)

Silly how convoluted the listings for these units are even for relatively informed buyers

Use this tool just in case any of the info I gave was wrong. Never trust some random online person's word when it comes to protecting expensive equipment and large investments.

Also for context, with my GPU pegged @100%, running 3840x2160 Minecraft Java + shaders, I'm still only pulling ~550w with this rig. So even if my CPU + GPU are fully maxed + everything else I have connected, we'd be looking at ~900w tops + 20% overhead for safety

You should be good with any ~1100-1200VA UPS for your current build, just make sure its sinewave

Good company.

I almost went with them, but CyberPower was selling a higher W unit with the same VA, for cheaper, so I went with that one instead.
