Many businesses need to refresh their server infrastructure but are not ready to adopt newer technologies - either due to validation time or they cannot afford or justify the cost premium. Many customers do not need absolute maximum performance for all of their workloads.  Many needs are much more mainstream. These customers require cost effective, energy-efficient, proven technologies to run business-critical applications. To address these needs, AMD is extending the life of 3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processors through 2026 and introducing six new processor SKUs.

3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processors provide outstanding price-performance, modern security features and energy efficiency for mainstream business-critical workloads, with the support of trusted partners, including Cisco, Dell Technologies, Gigabyte, HPE, Lenovo and Supermicro.

Servers running 3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processors are well suited for businesses looking to replace older hardware that can be more costly to maintain and often can’t keep up with today's business demands. AMD EPYCTM processors are a great choice for businesses that need to refresh aging infrastructure with affordable, energy efficient servers that can provide great value for business critical and general-purpose workloads for years to come.

The new additions

AMD has introduced six new 3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processors, starting at eight cores, available now. These include four new entry level offerings, 8 core and 16 core, with 1-processor and 2-processor configuration options. Also included are two additional 1-processor optimized offerings, with 48 and 56 cores. These six new parts join and further enhance an impressive  3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processor line-up.

3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM processors leverage the “Zen 3” core architecture to power high-performance solutions for leading enterprises, cloud service providers, government and financial services. The processors provide strong performance across the portfolio, with up to eight channels of fast, commodity DDR4 memory, up to 128 lanes of high throughput PCIe Gen 4, and include advanced security features with AMD Infinity Guard to extend the value of IT infrastructure investments.

3rd Generation AMD EPYCTM 7003 Series CPUs are just part of a family of great AMD processors to suit the increasingly diverse range of compute server needs:

  • 4th Generation AMD EPYCTM 9004-series processors deliver leadership performance for the most demanding general-purpose workloads.
  • The EPYC 8004 Series provides energy-efficient solutions for the edge and telcos.
