Software Version

I get emails announcing the latest  AMD Radeon software that is available.  The latest says that version 21.8.2 is available.  The Radeon software says that my software version is 2021.0617.1956.35892.  Even after doing earlier updates with version numbers similiar to 21.8.2 my system always reports the version number in the 2021.xxx format.  Is the software in the 21.8.2 format just not intended for my system or is the 21.8.2 number hidden somewhere where I can't find it?

Thanks,

Ed

In 'Settings > System' you should see the driver version.

Ryzen 5 5600x, B550 aorus pro ac, Hyper 212 black, 2 x 16gb F4-3600c16dgtzn kit, Aorus gen4 1tb, Nitro+RX6900XT, RM850, Win.10 Pro., LC27G55T..

I am able to find my software version by the way that you suggest. I'm just confused  that the format with my version number is so different from the format of the updates that keep coming out.

The driver number from download , e.g. 21.8.2 is year/month/ number of driver released in that month.

The longer driver version number is the in house driver version.

p.s. the number versions in pic may be different to your card model/OS.

Thanks for the replies.  The frustration that I have is that I get an email saying that 21.9.1 is available.  I download the files and begin installing them.  Then  a screen will come up with install options.  It will  tell me that 21.9.1 is the latest available, but 21.8.2 is recommended.  I have no way of knowing if 21.8.2 is what is already installed on my system since the installed software versions installed are identified with the other numbering scheme.  The software says 21.8.2 is recommended and I can install it.  But I have now way of knowing if that earlier version is already installed on my computer.

If it was already installed does the installation software know that and would therefore not give me the option to install it?  Or can I be wasting my time following the recommended course of action?

It's not hard to find what is already installed (pic.below).

goodplay,

How do you get that screen?  If I select the gear icon and then System I get this:

If I click release notes up towards the top I get sent to a webpage that discusses the details of release 21.8.2, which I guess answers what I am looking for.  I like your screen better though.

It is also on the 'Home' page (right hand side), are you using the 'Auto detect/install' app., minimal install or download/save/install full driver pkg.

The DRIVER & SOFTWARE box does not show up on my home screen.  I have been using the 'Auto detect/install' app., minimal install option.  Can that be my problem?
