Ryzen 5 2600 No Video

I just built a new box with the Ryzen 5 2600 but am getting no video. Fans are spinning, I've tried other monitors & cables, left one RAM in and moved it around slots. It looks like all of my components are compatible based on some online tools. So I'm wondering, what do I try? Replacing memory or replacing the motherboard? Here are my specs:

CPU - Ryzen 5 2600

Memory - TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 3200MHz (PC4 25600) CL16 Desktop Memory Module Ram - Red - TLZRD432G3200HC16CDC01

Motherboard - Gigabyte B450M DS3H (AMD Ryzen AM4/Micro ATX/M.2/HMDI/DVI/USB 3.1/DDR4/Motherboard)

Ryzen 2600 does not contain integrated GPU. So you need a graphics card to get images.

Sorry. I totally left that out. I have a EVGA 1GB GeForce 8400 GS DirectX

10 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card Model

01G-P3-1302-LR card installed.

I've been reading some other threads on Amazon where I purchased everything

and it sounds like this is common- Amazon has some older boards lacking an

updated bios for the Ryzen 5s. So o either need to find an older cpu to

upgrade the firmware with or exchange the motherboard for something more

recent.

Doh! I just noticed the video card is DDR3. Thanks for bringing this to my

attention. I would have wasted a lot of time.

The graphics card being DDR3 does not prevent you from getting images and it should be working. Could the 8400GS be faulty?

Yeah I see that now. Video RAM is different from motherboard RAM.

I was just using the video card in another box and it worked fine. I'm back

to the several comments I see on Amazon that the board has old bios. I wish

I had an old AM4 coupon laying around.

I want to mention again. You can connect DDR3 graphics card to the system with DDR4 RAM and run it. The problem is for a different reason. So it is necessary to look for the problem in something different.

Yes. I've found in the Amazon.com comments that many people ran into my

issue and it came down to receiving motherboards that although advertised

to support Gen 2 Ryzen CPUs, did not have the updated BIOS for Ryzen 5

CPUs. They got around this by swapping an older CPU, updating the BIOS,

then putting the Ryzen 5 back in. I don't have an old AM4 socket CPU so I

am just going to exchange the motherboard for one that is more recent, and

people have said the Ryzen 5 2600 worked right out of the box. I also

ordered some recommended RAM as a standby incase the motherboard

replacement doesn't work.

You do not have any BIOS problems. B450 provides direct support for second generation Ryzen processors. The problem is probably different. Could the GPU be faulty?

The comments I've been reading on Amazon.com are that although the B450 is

supposed to support 2nd gen Ryzen CPUs, some have needed to install older

CPUs in order to get graphics, update the BIOS, then after updating the

BIOS were able to get graphics working with the 2nd gen Ryzen CPU. My GPU

card works fine in my other build - both HDMI & DVI ports are functional.

Yes hi there, I’m having the exact same problem. Hopefully going into a store and getting it fixed tomorrow. Was it this bios update? That kept it from working for you
