Installing New CPU and GPU

I am about to install a new gpu and cpu ( or should I say uprade my current apu).

I read around some forums, that you need to disconnect all computer devices, before installing new hardware, because the computer, even if it's shut down still has some charge in it, thus it might fry some of my components.

My question is:

Do I have to unplug every single component in the pc, like ssd, hdd, motherboard etc or I just have to unplug the power supply?

I'd love to install the components as soon as possible, so I can test the computer, however I am not in a hurry - better safe than sorry.

Any help would be appreciated.
