Radeon RX 580 huge FPS drops after adding (and deleting) second monitor

I just upgraded to a Sapphire RX 580 card.  I followed some online tutorials and tweaked some settings (mild undervolt and overclock, nothing extreme), and was running Overwatch on High settings, plus a couple more bumped up, smooth as butter.  Then I got ambitious and set up a second monitor, connected to the card HDMI port.  My FPS instantly crashed down to the 30s and 20s when things got hectic in game.  I saw a post that suggested enabling GPU scaling on the second monitor.  I tried that, but no better.  I disconnected the second monitor, and things were still awful.  I ended up going into the registry, based on a Microsoft support article, and deleting the extra monitor keys.  That helped a lot, but I'm still seeing some hits in-game when there's a lot of action, even though I have the settings lower now than I did before.  Can someone suggest what I need to do to get back to where I was?  Do I need to do a factory reset?

Thanks in advance.
