Recently scraped together some old PC parts to throw together a low (well super low) end folding rig. It consists of a FX6300 and a HD 7950. Now for some reason, even after downloading the latest AMD Adrenaline app and using that to update my drivers, it does not have OpenCL checked as being available to use. From what I've read, my card supports this but no matter what I do, I cannot use it to fold anything at all or recognize OpenCL. It works fine when gaming though.

Make sure your motherboard has the latest BIOS/UEFI and CHIPSET driver versions installed.

Run the latest version of GPU-Z and see if OpenCL is checkmarked or not.

AMD driver is the one that "Enables" OpenCL on the GPU card.

If OpenCL is not checkmarked on GPU-Z try installing the AMD driver with this basic method:

Uninstall the current AMD Driver using DDU as per this method:

It could be due to a corrupted AMD Driver installation.

Download free program DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Run it in Safe mode with the internet disconnected.

You can also run it in Windows Desktop but then you would need to Reboot the computer for DDU to finish erasing all of  the AMD Driver traces from your computer.

 Once it finishes uninstalling the current AMD Driver in Safe mode and boots back to Windows Desktop, still with the Internet disconnected, delete the AMD Installation folder C:\AMD if it was created before.

Now install the full AMD Drive package you downloaded manually from AMD Download page. Not the express package. Run the package and if it installs correctly again delete C:\AMD folder and reconnect the internet.

This should prevent any conflict when installing the new version from the previous version.

By the way, C:\AMD is always created whenever you run the AMD Driver package

IF it still shows OpenCL not checkmark try installing a previous AMD Driver from here:  https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/graphics/amd-radeon-hd/amd-radeon-hd-7000-series/amd... 

If none of the above work then it is possible you have a defective GPU card.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. The card seems to game really well but I guess at worst...it can do some gaming and I'll just buy a new card to fold on.
