3700x idle temp of 80-90?

I have a new build & the idle temps are at 80-90c idle with stock bios. pastedImage_1.jpg

If I turn the 3600 memory to 3600 with the auto generated ddr setting... 90-95c idle! This can't be right. Bad chip?

Ended up being a piece of plastic or something embedded in the thermal paste. 40c idle temps now.

See above. Was a weird piece of something stuck in/under the thermal paste from manufacturing. Looked like plastic or hardened paste. Was smooth when I took it out of the box & put it on so... who knows. Never seen anything like that before.

Got rid of all the old paste, put on some new & now idle in the 40's. Just glad I figured it out.
