Can't see it in the device manager
won't detect with the auto detect software

tried installing drivers for it not working

The only thing I can think of is that I am running a board with a b450 chipset

It might help, others. It was the Asus prime b450-plus motherboard I was using (with up to date bios and drivers) I ended up getting a x570 motherboard in it's place and it works flawlessly. So either the b450 chipset just doesn't play nice with gen 3 even with bios update or just a defective board.
