WX2100 + RX580 in same PC

Hi Guys,

I have 2 GPUs, WX2100 and RX580, I'm planning to use both in the same PC,

What i have in mind is when i'm using solidworks, i could activated WX2100 drives, and when i'm gaming i will switch to RX580 drivers,

Well is this method possible?

So far i have no luck

Thanks,

Hi,

I would check the driver versions information are the same with the WX2100 disabled, and make sure that Windows 10 hasn't popped in and changed your RX580 driver version for some reason. I don't think it should do anything bad as long as you only disable the WX2100 or the RX580  and do not uninstall the drivers in any way.

Next thing you can try out is run some games on your RX580 and see what the gaming performance is like.
You can also install the demo version of 3D Mark Firestrike in steam and see how your RX580 scores with the 2019 Q3 driver.
You may want to compare the results to what you get in Adrenalin 2019 19.9.2.

If you do get any problems running the RX580 on the  Radeon Pro 19.Q3 driver then your only option left is to uninstall it and try Adrenalin 2019 19.9.2 for latest gaming drivers for AMD on your RX 580.

Bye.

AMD Resident expert fsadough on Professional GPU cards can answer your question whether you can have a Professional and Consumer GPU Card installed on the same motherboard with two different AMD Drivers.

thanks,
I´ll contact him asking for advices

Stay away from this configuration. You cannot install two drivers at the same time.

According to page 42 of this document: https://drivers.amd.com/relnotes/amd-radeon-pro-software-for-enterprise-19.Q3.pdf

pastedImage_2.png

The RX580 is supposed to be supported by
the following driver:

Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q3

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-pro-win-19-q3

That driver is also supposed to work for your WX2100.

So you should be able to install a WX2100 and an RX580 on the same system and the above installer should work.

Did you try that driver with those two GPUs installed?

Thanks.

Since AMD got rid of "Options" which was made for gaming and incorporated Consumer AMD Driver in its Professional AMD Driver package. From the PDF you posted it mentions IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GAMING.

Yes I know its "not recommended for gaming" but it works.

I just tested BF1 at 4K Ultra DX12 running on RX Vega 64 Liquid for 1 hour with:

Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q3

I have recorded a video and I upload it to YouTube next.
I see exactly the same gaming performance as I do running Adrenalin 19.9.2 as far as I can tell.
There are some slight differences in the Radeon Settings options and layout, but apart from that everything seems the same. Radeon Chill behaves the same way. FRTC behaves the same way. Consistent 59 FPS at 4K Ultra DX12.

This is what I expected to see based on testing the Enterprise Drivers on other GPUs and Systems.

If having an RX580 or WX2100 is a problem for a certain application you can always use windows Control Panel -> Device manager to disable one of the GPUs, reboot the machine, and Windows and the driver should only see either the WX2100 or the RX580 depending on which one you disabled.

Applications should launch and run on whichever GPU is driving the "Main Display" on Windows, unless there are additional options in the software to specify which GPU will be used.

Based on my own experience with these Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise Drivers, I would just install the RX580 first in the primary GPU slot on your motherboard and see if the 19.Q3 installer will even work for your RX 580. If it tries to install but sits at checking for new driver phase then that is a bug that needs fixed by AMD. Your particular RX580 might not be recognised by the installer. It happened to me earlier this year where the Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise Driver would not install on an XFX RX Vega 64 Liquid. The installer issue was fixed for me so I can run these drivers if I need to.

I tested Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q3 on a Windows 10 system with the following GPUs attached earlier this week.

GPU1: Palit RTX2080 OC.
GPU2: XFX RX Vega 64 Liquid.
GPU3: PowerColor Red Dragon Vega 56.
GPU4: XFX R9 Fury Double Dissipation.

It installs fine on the AMD Vega 64 and Vega 56 cards.
Since Fiji based GPUs are not supported (yet...?) by the Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise 19.Q3, the R9 Fury is disabled in Windows 10.
If I enable the R9 Fury and run update driver for the Fury GPU, it will auto install a very old (from 2017) Microsoft "AMD Driver", and the two Vega GPUs get disabled in Windows. On Reboot I only see the R9 Fury in AMD settings. All three GPUs are seen in control panel with the two Vega GPUs disabled.

Let me know if you think any more information is needed.

Bye.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply,

yeah I have installed 19.Q3 driver on my PC since I plugged my RX580.

My setup still running fine until now, the only thing i noticed that i need to switch my monitor to WX2100 whenever i work with solidworks, and switch my monitor back to RX580 when gaming. i hope my observation is correct.

Thanks

Hi

Great news that it is working. You should be fine. Pity AMD dropped the Vega FE style Gaming versus Pro driver switching, I think this is the best you can do for running your RX580 without actually removing the 19.Q3 drivers and installing Adrenalin 19.9.2 or whatever just for your RX580 when gaming.

Could you please post a few screenshots showing what the AMD Radeon Settings 19.Q3 GUI looks like with your WX2100 and RX580 cards please?
I am looking for screenshots like this - Global Graphics tab for both cards (I currently run 19.9.2 in screenshots below.:

FYI I still get red themed AMD Radeon Settings GUI and Icon, when I use it with 2 Vegas and an R9 Fury.
It would be interesting to me to see what color of GUI you get with your combination of WX2100 and RX580.

I think AMD make a marketing mistake by not changing the GUI to
Radeon Pro Blue when it runs on standard commercial desktop Vega GPUs.
The fact it stays red color makes you wonder if it is actually any different at all.

I am investigating  purchase of WX9100 to run with my Vega GPUs, any indication of how Pro and commercial desktop work together in the driver is useful to me.

Thanks.

yes of course i could give you my screenshots

this is my global setting view,

fyi, i installed my RX580 on top PCIE slot, and my WX2100 on second slot, my motherboard is MSI B450 Gaming Plus

for me every icons are blue, except for this one, i got red icon.

RE: i tried to disable my WX2100 from device manager then restart my PC, then reboot,

OK so the Adrenalin Skin is there, not the Radeon Pro blue skin.
Do you have Wattman Control available to your RX 580 or not please?

Thanks.

since i disable my WX2100, i found my global wattman

i think everything are going well

Great.
So I think you have a solution then.

I am uploading videos showing installing the Radeon Pro for Enterprise 19.Q3 on RX Vega 64 & 56 and BF1 tests in DX11 and 12 to YouTube now.
It was good to discuss this, thanks again for responding to my questions.

I also have global tuning, i just need to enable WX1200 and disable my RX580 on device manager, then reboot, it automatically change to Radeon Pro SettingpastedImage_1.png

Thank you for posting that information.
Much appreciated and very helpful to me.

I assume the Global Tuning (AMD Radeon Pro WX2100) works as described here: https://drivers.amd.com/relnotes/fan-control-user-guide.pdf
It also looks like you have no Wattman control of your RX580 at all if tou have both the WX2100 and the RX580 installed.
Lack of Wattman looks like a bug to me in this case. I would file an AMD Bug report.

WattMan Is available for both Vega GPUs.
The XFX R9 Fury shows the following in Windows Device Manager if I do not disable the device myself.

Gaming performance on BF1 is the same as far as I can tell from testing it versus Adrenalin 19.9.2 on BF1.
Newly released games like Borderlands 3 is likely a different story.
