I am an owner of an XFX R9 380.
That has four outputs:
- DisplayPort
- HDMI
- DVI-D
- DVI-I
I used to have four monitors already running just fine:
- HP EliteDisplay E221c | DisplayPort > DisplayPort
- Acer W193HQ | VGA > HDMI (Active Adapter)
- Acer W193HQ | VGA > DVI-D (Active Adapter)
- Phillips 223V | VGA > DVI-I
Now that worked just fine, but I decided to remove the antiquated Acer's and replace them with two ultrawide monitors running in portrait on the side. This does not work however.
My current setup is:
- HP EliteDisplay E221c | DisplayPort > DisplayPort
- LG 25UM58-P | HDMI > HDMI
- LG 25UM58-P | HDMI > DVI-D
- Phillips 223V | VGA > DVI-I (Active Adapter)
The first three work, but the last does not. Do I need a MST Hub if I want more than 3 digital outputs?
