RX 480 8GB crashing and needs to be underclocked

Hi. I am experiencing issues with my RX 480 which I believe are software related. When in a game as soon as anything graphics related loads the computer turns itself off and comes back on. The only work around I have found is to reduce my GPU frequency from 1340 MHz to 1165.

I previously fixed the issue but after installing a SSD the issue returned. Previously the following steps worked with my standard HDD

1. Uninstalled with AMD Clean Up Utility

2. Uninstalled with DDU

3. Uninstalled my Avira Anti Virus

4. Removed protective cover on desktop

5. Installed the latest AMD drivers

Preferably I would like to avoid formatting everything and doing a fresh install as this previously did not work.

I have been getting quite a lot of errors with JAVA updates, Bit Defender errors, errors launching games through steam and failed Windows 10 updates. Might these relate to my computer crashing when running games?

I see a lot of posts like this when people install SSD's...are you using the default download location, or are you selecting some other drive? The AMD software should be on the drive that has the OS.

Yeah I did the Windows 10 install on my SSD or C: drive. The funny thing is after uninstalling all AMD related drivers I ran the Witcher 3 which was at like 1fps or less but it didnt crash. As soon as I install the up to date drivers and run a game it crashes.

This error message pops up when installing drivers or running games. I can bypass by clicking on the X
