The problem is, Blender executable is undetectable on Ubuntu. Standard searches from terminal shows all the folders, but there's no executable path. So if anyone knows how to find it with command like it shows in user guide ``.../blender-2.78c-linux-glibc219-x86_64``, any kind of help is appreciated.
I went through the same problems as you, I could not find the path to the executable when I installed blender from Ubuntu Software. I solved it by downloading it from blender.org and working in stand-alone mode from the Downloads folder
