just as per thread's topic: what Threadripper 2 motherboard (if any) would support 256gb ram, and which 32gb sticks (8x) would be supported?
None, the limit for TR4 is 128GB.
Is there any spec sheet from AMD that states that? Because actually a quick search for "Threadripper 2 AMD support 2tb ram" suggests that AMD has stated in various occasions that the 8 slots can be populated with "up to 2tb ram". Of course, then, Motherboard's support and availability of single high capacity DIMMs become the real bottlenecks.
No sTR4 motherboard currently supports 256GB RAM.
resle, please see this post from me. As far as I know there are no boards that support more than 128 GB, as black_zion says. I know nothing about Linux, but what does it support for maximum memory? I do not work for AMD and most who post here also do not. Best to open an AMD Online Support Request to get the official answer. Enjoy, John.
