Looking for latest chipset drivers for 790FX-GD70 motherboard. Display results button on AMD manual driver search doesn't do anything.

I tried the manual driver search.  After selecting all the proper items: chipset, series 7XX, Win 10, etc. clicking on the display results button doesn't do anything.  I've searched the web and saw some people asking about legacy drivers but all the links send me back to the same AMD driver page that I was on.  Anyone know where I can find these drivers on the AMD site?

I went to AMD Support and inputted the following Data: Chipsets - AMD 7 series Chipsets - All Series 7 Chipsets - Windows 10 x64 : This is the legacy Chipset driver page I was linked to. I copied the entire page so that you should hopefully be able to download it from this post since you are unable to do it from your computer:

Everyone, Thanks for the help.  Things were looking up until last night.  Bios flash undid all my work.  It appeared to complete properly showing 100% at each step and gave a "Bios was successfully updated" message.  It went to reboot on its own and then the screen went black.  I let it sit for a few minutes but nothing changed.  The motherboard code led was showing FF.  I tried the MSI recovery process of putting the bios on a usb stick, removing everything except 1 ram stick, cpu, and video card, and starting the system with the usb stick in the rear port but nothing changed.  Tried a different video card, all usb ports on the back, clear CMOS, remove battery, remove 4 pin power to mb, remove and reinstall cpu.  As soon as power is applied the FF code appears.  Looks like my attempts to hold off on spending a bunch of money have been foiled.  It's too bad the manufacturers haven't done away with such a sensitive bios update process.

Same thing happened to me on my Asus Motherboard. I updated the BIOS and suddenly I couldn't boot into Windows or get past the initial Boot BIOS Screen. I immediately reflash my BIOS back to the last BIOS Version and everything was fine again. I tried it a second time at a later date and the exact same thing happened.  But about 4-5 months later Asus came out with another newer BIOS. I again updated to the newest and last BIOS and my computer has been working like a charm ever since. Seems like the previous BIOS Asus came out with was not compatible with my computer setup. Luckily the next and last updated BIOS version works great.

Try to reflash you MSI Motherboard BIOS back to the BIOS Version you had and wait for a another MSI BIOS update and see if it works.

About trying to reflash.  The pc doesn't even POST.  I have no way of entering the bios to flash back to the previous version.  The memory / cpu status leds and the 2 digit code led are the only things that come on besides the fans.  My screen is black, the monitor doesn't receive any signal.  It goes into sleep mode after a few seconds.

This thread from MSI Forum in 2009 has the exact same issue when he updated his BIOS on the same Motherboard. Go thru the thread and see if the thread comes up on how to fix the BIOS: Can't boot (FF) after bios flash with M-Flash 790FX-GD70

From above thread it seems some one found a way to repair the botched BIOS on the motherboard. I not sure how it works but maybe you can find out. Here is the thread from inside the above thread: LPT to JSPI1 connector on 790FX-GD70 motherboard . Seems to quite technical to set up. Not for the novice.

You are not alone about what happened after flashing your MSI BIOS. Many have RMAed their boards but I suspect your is out of warranty. Anyway see if the LPT to JSPI1 connector works and get your motherboard BIOS working again.

Good luck. Your motherboard is an old motherboard that doesn't have the newer technology in restoring corrupt or bad BIOS flashing such as those in the new motherboards. From MSI Support, all the drivers are from 2011 and made for Windows 8.1 or below.

I would contact MSI Support and see if they will RMA your board since you did use the proper tool (M-Flash) and I suppose the correct BIOS to update your motherboard's BIOS. Even if it is out of Warranty. Since it was either their own Tool or BIOS that made your motherboard inoperative, MSI Support may decide to RMA your board for repairs as a gesture as a MSI Customer.

Thanks for spending time on this. I looked at the links and the time vs payoff is too low for me. If I spend a few more hours working on this board it will amount to more than a full work day. Lesson learned, don't flash unless already having a problem. I'll just start saving up for a new board/cpu/ram and try to reuse all the other components.

In a way it has been a Blessing. Expensive Blessing but a Blessing. Now you have a chance to upgrade your computer to the latest greatest versions of the Motherboard, RAM, and CPU.

Or you can purchase a whole computer which might be cheaper depending on how you want it customized before purchasing. But then again, by building it yourself, you get exactly what hardware you want in a computer for whatever purposes you will be using it for.

If the RAM and CPU are incompatible with your next motherboard, Try selling them on Ebay or Amazon. At least you get some money back.

Have you tried to call MSI Support to see if they will RMA your motherboard even if it is out of warranty?  You lose nothing except a few minutes of your time and a telephone call. Granted the chances are slim that MSI will RMA your board but you have nothing to lose by calling.

BTW, your MSI Motherboard has a 3 year warranty from the date of purchase.

Just curious, were you using m-flash from the bios to update the bios or were you using MSI Live from in Windows?

Well, you probably killed your board.
                                    1. NEVER flash a bios on a working system ==> you state that the system worked without a problem. Why the flash then? As stated more often in this forum: a bios is NOT a driver!!
                                    2. NEVER use M-Flash, if you run through this forum, you can see that it often goes wrong.
                                  • 3. Am I correct that you forced the flash? Well, that's the worst thing to do. Forcing a flash should never be done. If something goes wrong, you end up with an unusable board. And I'm afraid that this is exactly what just happened.

But as I mentioned in the previous reply, there are some tips to try first before using the LPT solution that did work.
