    Dual-Link-DVI-I adapter cable to DisplayPort

    vzell

      Current setup: Windows10 with

      AMD Radeon HD 6850:  1 x Single-Link-DVI-D port

                                              1 x Dual-Link-DVI-I   port

                                              2 x Mini DisplayPort

                                              1 x HDMI              port

      4 displays:  3 x ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  (capable of 2560x1440 @60Hz via DisplayPort)

                         1 x HP ZR2440w                  (capable of 1920x1200 @60Hz via Single-Link-DVI-D)

      The following configuration works

      AMD Radeon HD 6850:  1 x Single-Link-DVI-D port    => HP ZR2440w                 - 1920x1200 @60Hz

                                              1 x Dual-Link-DVI-I     port   => not connected

                                              1 x Mini DisplayPort             => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 2560x1440 @60Hz

                                              1 x Mini DisplayPort             => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 2560x1440 @60Hz

                                              1 x HDMI                   port    => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 1920x1200 @60Hz

      According to the Radeon documentation the Dual-Link-DVI-I output is capable of 2560x1600 @60Hz

      so I bought the VISIONTEK DVI to DisplayPort 1.5M Active Cable (M/M) (https://www.visiontek.com/dvi-to-displayport-1-5m-active-cable-m-m.html)

      to get the full resolution of 2560x1440 @60Hz at my third ViewSonic, but instead I only get up to 1920x1080:

      AMD Radeon HD 6850:  1 x Single-Link-DVI-D port    => HP ZR2440w            - 1920x1200 @60Hz

                                              1 x Dual-Link-DVI-I     port    => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 1920x1080 @60Hz (instead of 2560x1440) - this is with the adapter cable

                                              1 x Mini DisplayPort             => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 2560x1440 @60Hz

                                              1 x Mini DisplayPort             => ViewSonic VX-3211-2K  - 2560x1440 @60Hz

                                              1 x HDMI                     port   => not connected

      What kind of cable do I need to feed in to the DisplayPort of my ViewSonic Monitor

      from the Dual-Link-DVI-I output from my Radeon ?

      Thanks

      Volker
