Motherboard: ASRock x370 Taichi

CPU: Ryzen 1600x

I just bought all the parts to build a new pc and put it all together last Thursday but have been having trouble getting a usable display. Most of the time, I have no signal getting to my monitors, but sometimes I get video for a few seconds and then it freezes with a border of artifacts at the top of the screen. I was able to use my friend's 1070 to install windows 10 but we were unable to install the necessary drivers for the 580 since that card wasn't installed. So I know all the other parts work and I'm relatively certain that the card is either defective or the drivers need to be update, which I don't know how to do without a usable display. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do?
