Thank you to the red team community for addressing my concern! I feel much better now. I will not anger anymore of you!
I'm sorry you feel this way. I won't say your concern isn't valid, but please note the competition has engaged in similar practices in the past. Fortunately AMD has already put out a statement regarding this:
AMD Apologizes For RX 560 Spec Change, Ensures Full Transparency With AIB Partners
Congrats on your 1800X! I'm running one of those myself.
Was 560 a card you where going to buy? Did AMD not fix the problem. Did you not know that 1060 3GB has less Cuda Cores than 1060 6GB and man 1060 3GB is probably the worse Nvidia card to buy. Should have gotten 1080 Ti to shot it at AMD. With 1060 3GB you are not doing any damage to AMD. If you are going by morals than dont buy anything ever.
You just told the man to buy a £700 card instead of a £220 one
While true, the RX560 confusion is looming and was indeed addressed in official statements, bear in mind that there were some certain opposition cards that suddenly shipped with less RAM than advertised, which a bit more impact on capabilities than 2 CUs.
If you can afford it, RX570 games better than a 1060, XFX RX570 with very good cooling, and it's $250 on Amazon. I would return the 1060 and go for 570 if at all possible, not trying to convince you to move to AMD GPUs, just looking at numbers.
and then u buy the 1060 3G? the card where Nvidia didnt told that it will have less cores?
and the RX560-debakel wasnt AMDs fault - AMD named the smaller Chip 560D - but it was the OEMs that didnt label the sold RX 560D correctly...
Benman2785, I hate to be the one to ask but lets keep it professional here. We strive to keep a community that's positive and welcoming. Laughing at someone's choice of GPU because it isn't up to your standards is not the type of content the community wants. Even if it's something about nvidia. I try to squash any hint of toxicity no matter how insignificant it seems.
Mark - the confusion was just as stated. Confusion. I'm sure your retailer would have happily taken the card back should you have purchased it. AMD has since apologized for the actions it took. I'm sorry this happened and got you fired up. Even though it's your first post and you already got a shot across the bow - I hope to see you in discord and on the AMD Twitch channel!
Welcome to the Red Team community!
you didnt understand why i laughed
i didnt laughed about the 1060 3G - i laugh because he said he bought Nvidia because AMD did the 560 mistake - so AMD didnt tell that the 560D (different name) isnt the 560 because of lesser Cores // But the 1060 3G is literally the worse move from Nvidia - because the box says 3G instead of 6G and NOT THAT THE 1060 3G also has less cores //
so i didnt laugh because of his choice - the 1060 3G is a nice card for 1080p (ps i have compareable RX580 4G) - but i laugh because of his reason to buy that card
he forget about Nvidias mistake and blames AMD for the same move Nvidia did - yet he buys Nvidia...
Thanks for the "Not Helpful" vote. I'll keep that noted. I appreciate the feedback and will consider it for future responses.
was from me - because you didnt understand what i meant - what actually can happen
Wouldn't you think as a first post in a new community, you would want to make a better impression?
You throw in our faces that you bought an Nvidia card because of "shady practices" but to which you have no information or knowledge behind your accusations and are just like a monkey flinging poop at a wall hoping it sticks.
(We do welcome everyone both AMD and non-AMD members, regardless of hardware)
I do congradulate you on your 1800x but I hope you can repair this crappy reputation you made for yourself and maybe you can be welcomed in the community.
Don't kick yourself, and don't feel bad either.
I'm pretty sure that kind (or similar) of mistake has happened to everyone at least once before.
It kind of reminds me of the period where the card manufacturers were selling vga cards stuffed with HYPER RAM and shouting out about it...
Normal people think..... "Oh that looks good!.... Maybe I ought to give it a whirl?"
And no sooner have they bought the product, that they realise its all in the wording.
And its too good to be true!! because the cards only came with HALF the advertised RAM...
So don't be upset, simply take something away from this experience.
Thank you for propping this thread up #fistbumps
