What happens if in device manager you choose Update Driver for the graphics card and manually point it to C:\AMD with include subfolders ticked?
Yes I tried to install the driver manually under the device manager indicating the path C:\AMD (and search in subfolders) and indicating exactly where the .inf file is placed. Neither worked.
I tried this from other locations (unpacking the driver package to a folder) with equal result.
I finally tried to uninstall the GPU driver using DDU, I initially thought it would not be necesary because I was trying this from a fresh windows install (tried it four or five times from a fresh install), but it seems the Microsoft Driver is installed in the system inspite of installing the AMD Radeon drivers. Damn your bones Microsoft.
So finally it worked uninstalling first the GPU drivers using DDU. And afterwards installing the lasted AMD driver package downloaded from the web page.
