Atiumdva.cap Causes Out of memory Error

Question asked by sniblit on Nov 17, 2017

I'm working with a customer that is receiving an out of memory error in their presentation software app.

After investigating using procmon, I found atiumdva.cap is causing the app to use memory without freeing it up.

I can only assume that it is injecting into the application for some reason.

This was also an issue with the Playstv app, however that can be removed in order to fix the problem.

In this case the driver installs these files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and I haven't found a setting in Catalyst control center to disable whatever is causing this issue.

Windows 10

I5 2400

AMD Radeon 6670

Driver version 15.200.1062.1004

So far I have uninstalled the driver and uninstall the card from hardware manager, clicking the option to delete the files when uninstalling.

I've deleted the atiumdva.cap and .dll file and reinstalled.

So far renaming the files prevents the issue, but I'd rather have a solution that didn't require the user to go into the syswow64 folder and rename files.
