So far, only Windows 10 is supported for NVME RAID boot on Threadripper. Is there driver support planned for Windows 7 or 8?
Windows 7 does not have native NVMe support, and Windows 8 is dead and doesn't support firmware upgrades of NVMe drivse, so most likely no.
Win7 got a patch KB2990941 to enable just that!
Gotta love Microsoft, convince everyone you can only get things in Windows 10 then quietly slip them in to 7...
I am running Windows 7 on NVME 1.3 970 Evo Plus with Asus Prime X470 Mobo and it is running very well; just had to load the NVME driver manually upon installing Windows 7 otherwise it would not have seen the drive.
The X470 has a second M.2 NVME slot (albeit only with Pcie 3.0x2 lane speeds) so i am thinking of Creating a NVME Raid and somehow restore my Windows 7 onto that.
Any chance of succeding with that or is is more likely to fail ?´Besides, the pcie 3.0x2 seems quite a bottleneck and probably would could worsen the overall troughput.
